The Autism Masterclass

About

For many families, receiving an autism diagnosis can feel like stepping into an unknown world without a guide. When my younger brother was diagnosed with autism over 25 years ago, my parents felt isolated, with little information to help them understand or take next steps. They traveled far and wide to learn what autism meant for our family. Today, as fascinated as I am by the richness of the autistic neurotype, I’m equally disappointed by the limited formal education available for therapists, educators, and families. This course was created to bridge this gap, providing accessible education for parents, therapists, educators, and support workers alike. This five-part video course dives deep into autism from a multifaceted perspective—not focusing on a single presentation of autism and definitely not only on autistic children. This course celebrates neurodiversity across the lifespan and gives practical insights to help families, therapists, and educators support autistic individuals in a truly affirming way. Course Outline: - Workshop 1: Introduction to Autism – Foundational insights on the autistic neurotype - Workshop 2: Family Dynamics – Exploring how an autism diagnosis can impact siblings and family relationships - Workshop 3: School & Communication – Effective ways to approach interactions with schools or family discussions - Workshop 4: Therapeutic Approaches – An overview of supportive therapeutic options - Workshop 5: Autism & Adulthood – Understanding the needs and strengths of autistic individuals in adulthood What’s Included? Each workshop comes with a workbook packed with additional resources and practical insights to support your learning journey. You’ll gain the knowledge and tools needed to understand and support the autistic neurotype in all its diversity. This course is here to empower families and professionals alike, so that no one feels isolated in their journey.
